As fully-fledged construction professionals, we can all reflect on our College and Uni days fondly.
I spent many stressful nights trying to reach that deadline, laughing at the first years for getting the simple things wrong or maybe that’s just me. But how many of you can think of that one tutor, professor or employer that had your back while you were learning? That person who helped scolded and praised you.
I’m positive we all have one or more.
Would you be where you are now without them pushing you and getting you to think outside the box? Some may say yes, others no. I will let you answer that about your experience.
But what does your College or Uni experience have to do with helping young people in construction today?
Well, simply by supporting their hard work as someone had done for you.
One great way to do that is by nominating them for an award.
This is where the Construction Development Alliance (CDA) come in, with our biannual Young Person in Construction Awards being held this year. So now would be the perfect time to show your support and nominate that construction student, apprentice, or young professional.
Are they 16-25 years old?
A UK citizen or permanent resident?
Studying or working in the construction industry?
If you can say yes to these questions, you have no excuse not to nominate them now.
The categories are:
- Overcoming Adversity
- Apprentice
- Construction Professional
- Young Construction Environmentalist
- Designer
Nominations are open and close on the 20th of April, 2023.
After this date, nominations will not be included in the lineup for Young Persons in Construction awards 2023.
However, nominations made after the 20th of April 2023 will be logged, and the nominator may be contacted for the following awards in 2025.
